The Peel Compton Foundation is hiring for Program Specialist at Coler Mountain Mountain Bike Preserve.  

The Peel Compton Foundation (PCF) is a premiere and growing nonprofit organization, located in Bentonville, AR. We are seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial individual to join the team as a Coler Program Specialist. The Peel Compton Foundation owns and operates the Peel Museum & Botanical Gardens, Compton Gardens & Arboretum, Coler Mountain Bike Preserve, and Osage Park. The uniting mission for these diverse properties is to connect the community through nature, education, recreation, and preservation. The Peel Compton Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

About the Position: You'll join a top-notch team to facilitate the activation of Coler Mountain Bike Preserve with special attention to paid cycling programs. You will play a critical role in creating and facilitating programs with a goal to provide the best user experience from the novice to the highly skilled cyclists. This is a tremendous opportunity to develop new programs and grow with an evolving organization. General Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the operation, instruction, and administration of all programming at Coler Mountain Bike Preserve
  • Develop and execute creative new program activities that appeal to the community
  • A commitment to an inclusive and diverse environment to create a welcoming space for all
  • Provide outstanding customer service and communication to all program participants
  • Provide detailed program evaluations and budgets
  • Studies and analyzes community programming needs and resources
  • Assist in 3rd Party Relationship Management (i.e., program instructors, community constituents, etc.)
  • Secondary duties may be assigned

Operations:

  • Assist in the development of programing strategies for Coler Mountain Bike Preserve that are aligned to the Foundation’s mission and vision
  • Create and execute recreational and educational activities for Coler Mountain Bike Preserve
  • Represent PCF in the community and build relationships to provide the best program instruction and establish key partnerships in the community
  • Effectively provide verbal and written communication
  • Provide needed set-up, program management, tear-down and clean-up

Who we are seeking:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Park & Recreation Administration or closely related field and 2 years related experience and/or training in Parks & Recreation management, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Able to use sound judgement and reasoning to make decisions
  • Must demonstrate proficient experience on a mountain bike
  • Exceptional relationship building skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • A positive attitude, and well-developed teaching abilities
  • Openness to receive and give feedback for growth opportunities
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Adept at using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug screening
  • Possession of a valid drivers license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bicycle Instructor Certification from a governing body - Level 1 or 2
  • First Aid Certification or ability to acquire within the first 3 months of employment, paid by Peel Compton Foundation
  • Strong background in leading small and large groups
  • Emphasis on Diversity and Inclusion best practices

Schedule: Required to work weekends, weeknights and holidays as needed. Typically, one to two weekends a month with ample scheduling ahead of time.
